Marshall High School Career Fair

Dear Colleague:

For many years, John Marshall High School has hosted a very successful College Fair and, again this year, we plan to combine our College Fair with a Career Fair, which has greatly enhanced the program. We are in the process of contacting not only our own students and parents, but also those of the middle schools and elementary schools that prepare our students. Our goal is to inform our student community about college and career opportunities as well as to acquaint them with your particular campus and programs.

I am writing to ask you to come and speak with our students and their parents about your career—what you do, what drew you to your career, your educational background, etc.—the very things you wanted to know when you were in high school thinking about what you wanted to do with your life. We have found that talking with people in different careers is highly motivating for our students. Please feel free to bring materials you would like to hand out, and if know of any volunteer opportunities for students, please feel free to bring materials about that as well.

The College/Career Awareness Program will be held on Thursday, October 6, from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Set-up will begin at 3:30 pm. .

Our arrangement will remain informal with representatives at tables, which will be set up around the perimeter of the outdoor lunch area of the campus. Our staff would be most happy to welcome you if you can arrange to join us.

I finally took some pictures so you can get an idea of what you will run into. First of all, Griffith Park is no more than 10 minutes away from downtown L.A. There are many streets that will lead you up north to Los Feliz Blvd, which is the main street that contours the south side of the park. The main streets are Western Ave, Vermont Ave., and Hillhurst Avenue. Please note that Virgil Avenue turns into Hillhurst Ave once you pass Sunset Blvd. If you are going to GPS it or MapQuest it here’s the address:
